Ahhhh....the good ol' days. The days when not a bill to pay, and my biggest worry was whether or not the hot guy with the mohawk got my origami love letter in first period. What I would give to relive those days! Days filled with firsts. I remember when I heard punk rock for the first time. I was 14. My best friend Jessica introduced me to MxPx. From that point on, my taste in music had changed. Pop-punk back then was different than what is labeled as the same today. My CD collection consisted of Blink 182, Mxpx, New Found Glory and Fenix*TX. 3PM would have fit right in there with my beloved collection. Their new single Slow Me Down drops on August 4th, and anyone who gets a hold of this song will be in love. These kids (teenagers!) are insanely talented. When I listened to the album, each song was my favorite, until I got to the next. But the title track definitely takes the cake. It's the perfect amount of pop mixed with the edginess that is a staple in good punk rock. Great guitar riffs, solid drum line and superb vocals.
Having recently made an appearance on Warped Tour (the punk traveling circus) and opening for All Time Low, these young punks are sure to make a name for themselves. And I will be there cheering them on.
Please check them out, and see for yourself that (pop) punk's not dead.
